NEW AG EXEMPTION SALES TAX REGULATIONS
House Bill 268, passed during the 82nd Regular Legislative Session, requires, beginning January 1, 2012, that a person claiming an exemption from sales tax on the purchase of certain items used in the production of agricultural and timber products must provide a registration number issued by the Comptroller of Public Accounts on the exemption certificate issued to the seller. This number can be obtained by completing an application with the State. This form can be obtained from the following link: It will take approximately 4-5 weeks to receive your permit after the application is mailed. You must provide D&L with a signed exemption certificate showing your number in order to continue to qualify as tax exempt for agricultural purposes after January 1, 2012. Please use the form that corresponds to the D&L that you shop with the majority of the time: The only items which will continue to be tax exempt without this certificate on file are any types of feed normally consumed by farm and ranch animals or wildlife. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us at 940-365-3129. |
